Organic Glamour

In line with our mission, every step of the production process in making Qttie products are carefully thought of and planned with our users in mind.

The Organic Philosophy aims to cut down on damages on our bodies, not only through safer products, but also its application steps.

  • Toxic free formula
  • Gentle application steps
  • No harsh, harming feeling
  • Pleasant, happy experience
  • Zero bad smell

Starting with our first range of gel manicure series, the Qttie Gelly,  we managed to greatly cut down on the toxic in the products, without compromising on the quality of the end results of the gel manicure. The application steps are gentle and safe for beginners.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

Do you know how much chemicals are absorbed by our bodies each day? Chemicals are easily found all around us, especially in cosmetic products. Unknown to many, the chemicals go into our body through our skin, respiratory system, or simply goes into our body with the food we eat.

What we put on our hands, and nails, have very high chance of going in to our body considering how we use our hands for everything! Such as eating, putting on our contact lenses, or applying our facial products.

The toxic goes in to our body at a rapid rate. Overexposure of such chemicals would cause irreversible damage.

Let’s choose to take better care of ourselves and the health of people around us.

EFFECT OF COMMON TOXIC FOUND IN NAIL PRODUCTS

When in contact with such chemicals, there will be negative effects to the body, such as:

  • Headache
  • Irritating to skin and mucosa
  • Developmental disorders
  • Influence on foetus and infant
  • Impact on reproductive function
  • Redness or irritation of the skin
  • Encephalopathy
  • Mental disorder
  • Blurred vision
  • Visceral disorder
  • Nausea
  • Dizzy

The effects of these toxic might only surface in a few years!

LAB TEST REPORTS

Qttie believes to have proper proof to prove our claims of toxin free formula. For a better peace of mind for our users, our products are sent for testings to ensure that our products are free of toxic, and are of a safe level for chemicals.

Our Qttie Gelly are tested by renowned and reputable laboratories in USA, Japan and Singapore.

Though many brands labelled themselves as Big-3, Big-4, Big-5 free, it is good to request for proof of these statements, such as lab tests reports from reputable laboratories.

WHAT IS BIG 5-FREE?

We’ve been talking a lot about the term ‘BIG-5 FREE”, but what is it really?

Unfortunately, nail products are generally filled with a lot of chemicals. The smell of these products are usually very, very unpleasant. Some of these chemicals are more harmful than the others – both to our bodies and the environment.

The big five chemicals which are usually found in nail products are namely –

Formaldehyde

A disinfectant and nail hardener, most known to be used as an embalmer.

Dibutyl Phthalate

A plasticizer and was used in nail polish to make it last longer by being more flexible.

Camphor

A waxy solid that is used in many medicines and pest control agents as well as in explosives.

Formaldehyde Resin

Used in nail polish to improve adhesion, hardness, and durability.

Toulene

A solvent that was used in polish to create a smooth finish and make polish dry faster.

OTHER TOXINS…

Apart from being Big 5 free, our formula is also tested to be free of:

  • Parabens
  • Solvent
  • Heavy metal
  • Lead
  • Mercury
  • Arsenic
  • Microorganism

While we would love to do chemical-free polishes, it is not possible for cosmetics to be 100% chemical free. Qttie took away all the harming chemicals for a safer manicure.

MORE ABOUT THE EFFECTS OF TOXINS

Formaldehyde
Formaldehyde is most known to be used as an embalmer. It is a disinfectant and nail hardener. There is much debate about formaldehyde/formalin as formaldehyde is actually a gas. When mixed with water, it is known as formalin. Regardless, it is a known carcinogen that has been linked to lung and nasal cancers. It can cause allergic reactions and breathing issues.

Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP)
DBP is a plasticizer and was used in nail polish to make it last longer by being more flexible and less likely to chip. Sounds great, right? The problem is, it’s a carcinogen that has also been linked to birth defects. It might be “fine” in small doses, but if you can still have a great polish without it, let’s leave it out.

Camphor
Found in the camphor laurel and kapur trees, camphor is a waxy solid that is used in many medicines and pest control agents as well as in explosives. It has also been used in religious ceremonies. Camphor can cause a cooling sensation when applied to the skin and can cause high heart rate, slowed breathing, and vasodilation. The problem is that it can cause headaches, nausea, and dizziness with prolonged exposure. In very high levels (much higher than that found in nail polish), it can cause seizures.

Formaldehyde Resin
Used in nail polish to improve adhesion, hardness, and durability. This is a synthetic plasticizer that can cause lung irritations or allergic reactions. Some sources say that it does not pose any health concerns and others list it as a toxic compound. Again, if you can have a great polish without it, let’s leave it out.

Toulene
Toulene is a solvent that was used in polish to create a smooth finish and make polish dry faster and to a harder finish. It is extremely flammable and is an irritant that can cause headaches. Toulene has also been linked to birth defects.

CONFIDENCE WITH QTTIE

We don’t need these chemicals to make a great polish. We don’t want to expose our customers to any harm, be it minor or not. Something else we feel strongly about is animal testing. It’s a cruel practice that just isn’t necessary these days. We are careful to make sure that the ingredients we use in our products are not tested on animals either. Extensive testing is done with all of our products, but it is willingly done on friends, family, and volunteer bloggers.

Feel confident using our products. They are safe for you and your children. We have your health and your interests at heart.
